Essential Skills Training

Provides practical, workplace relevant skills to students including reading, writing, and basic numeracy.  This training focuses on the nine "essential skills" defined by HRSDC.  Most suitable for adults demonstrating academic skills below the grade 8 level who are seeking employment in the primary NOC group 66.

University & Community College Preparation

Now being piloted, this newly enhanced program ensures that students possess the essential self-management and information-processing skills needed to adapt well to the demands of their post-secondary studies.  

Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) Certification

Students can gain Microsoft Office training and certification from Summit College's official MOS testing sites (please inquire).

Computer Fundamentals

Summit is sensitive to the differences in competency levels among individuals adjusting to the demands of the technological world. Students receive one-to-one instruction at the outset. As understanding and comfort grow, independent study of lessons and exercises increases. This approach respects individual learning curves, helping build confidence.

English as a Second Language (ESL)

Workplace-relevant wherever possible, this program answers to the needs of students who have learned to adapt in an English-speaking environment, but who lack training in more applied language skills, such as reading and writing. 

GED Preparation

A GED diploma represents a significant and dramatic stride for individuals without secondary school standing. This credential opens doors for both employment and postsecondary study. The power of this program lies in the dedication of Summit instructors, attention to program detail, and commitment to student empowerment.
