EQAO and grade 10 OSSLT Preparation

Looking for better scores and more self-confidence?

What is EQAO?

The EQAO (Education Quality and Accountability Office) is an independent agency of the Ontario government. It provides information about student achievement and the quality of publicly-funded education in Ontario.

Each year, students in grades 3, 6, 9 and 10 are administered provincial assessments in the following subject areas:

Grade 3 and 6 students are assessed in reading, writing, and mathematics.

Grade 9 students are assessed in Mathematics.

Grade 10 students are assessed with the Ontario Secondary School Literacy test (OSSLT). * Successful completion of the OSSLT test is required to graduate from secondary school with an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD).

Summit's EQAO and OSSLT preparation courses
are designed to help your child in several ways:

  • Familiarizing students with the material covered on the EQAO assessment

  • Reviewing areas of student need in material being assessed

  • Familiarizing students with the assessment format. Younger students are often not familiar with multiple-choice questions. Summit ensures that students understand the meaning of key words used in the assessment questions, such as compare, describe, determine, list, explain, justify, etc. and that they understand how to answer each type of question.

  • Helping relieve anxiety students may have about the test. By providing students with help in their areas of difficulty, we increase their confidence levels. Summit simulates the testing environment and test format so that students are more comfortable when they write the actual assessment. The combination of extra practice and positive reinforcement gives students the confidence they need to succeed!
