Summit's Approach
Step 1 - Conducting Initial Consultation and Academic Assessment Free of Charge
Complimentary initial consultation and academic assessment make it easy for you to properly consider your tutoring options.
Having the big picture is essential to providing each student with exactly what he or she needs to succeed. When designing an individualized student program, Summit's educators gather information from a variety of sources, including Summit's comprehensive Academic Assessment and Learning Style Questionnaire, past report cards, sample school work, parental input and IEP's (if applicable). Specific goals of the student, parent(s) and educator(s) are discussed and examined before a uniquely customized program is designed for each student.
Step 2 - Designing Truly Individualized Program
Summit's individualized approach ensures your
child gets a uniquely tailored program.
Summit fits the program to the student, not the student to the program; therefore, no two student programs are the same! Summit's truly individualized programs cover the exact content each student needs to succeed, while incorporating teaching strategies that are targeted to each student's unique learning style. All of Summit's enrichment, remedial and homework helper programs are connected to the Ontario Curriculum. Programs are tailored for students with a variety of different exceptionalities. Summit's vast resource bank of enrichment activities expand already mastered concepts. Summit's goal is to actively engage students with activities and problems that require higher-order thinking skills.
Step 3 - Matching Student and Educator
Summit pays close attention when matching students and teachers.
Each student is personally matched with an educator who specializes in his or her specific subject area. Summit educators provide students with a positive, supportive place to learn and focus on student success. Students, who may have been frustrated with academics, develop enthusiasm and a love of learning.
Step 4 - The Learning Sessions Begin!
Summit's holistic and cutting-edge systems drive effective learning and life-long success
Parents can choose small learning groups (max 3:1) or one-to-one instruction.
Using the Summit Method the whole individual is taken into account, and students learn skills that will help to shape their future. Summit's learning sessions can incorporate the latest technology, including specialized graphing calculators, geometer sketchpads, Kurzweil, Dragon NaturallySpeaking, Inspiration Software, and more.
Cutting-edge research on brain plasticity informs Summit's learning systems.
Step 5 - Providing Continuous Feedback
Regular communication keeps parents informed of progress
Summit works together with students and parents to achieve learning goals. Reports detailing victories and challenges go home after every session. Regular Goal Setting and Review meetings are held every twelve sessions. Students share their successes and set new challenges at the meeting. Students who set goals and commit to them, reach them.
